The “Salesians of Don Bosco” (SDB) are the largest Catholic religious order with a primary focus on youth ministry and education. If we observe its action in synergy with the whole Salesian Family, uniting more than 30 congregations, institutes, associations and movements, we can state that the Salesian Youth Ministry influences millions of young people worldwide through schools, youth centres, parishes, missionary centres, informal activities, volunteering, and animation.
Il Progetto Educativo-Pastorale Salesiano (PEPS) è stato uno dei temi centrali del ripensamento postconciliare della missione salesiana. L’importanza del progettare riflette un cambio complesso di accentuazioni, avvenuto negli anni del dopo Concilio, da un’educazione fedele ai modelli del passato e spesso ripetitiva verso un’impostazione critica della pedagogia che guarda al futuro.

At the time of writing this letter, the GC24 has been distributed to all the Provinces. Following the initial communication during the Chapter and subsequent transmissions by participants, the official edition has been disseminated through Acts in various languages. This edition includes documents in line with the Constitutions, as well as supplementary texts for a deeper understanding of the event and the guidelines provided. During the closing part of the year 1994 and throughout 1995, the Rector Major expressed gratitude for the abundance of grace bestowed upon them. He anticipated the upcoming opportunity to participate in the Synod of Bishops on “the consecrated life and its mission in the Church and in the world.” The Rector Major emphasized the importance of this event, urging communities and individuals to devote themselves to prayer and reflection. Upon returning from Ethiopia, the Rector ;ajor expresses joy at witnessing a vibrant part of the extensive Project-Africa, filled with hope. He is impressed by the dedication of novices and young Ethiopian colleagues in preserving Don Bosco’s legacy in the country. Gratitude is extended to God and the committed missionaries for their faithful and enthusiastic service. The Rector Major anticipates that the recent experiences of hope will be further reinforced by two upcoming events: the Special Synod of African Bishops and the beatification of Sister Maddalena Caterina Morano, a Daughter of Mary Help of Christians.
