La presente relazione si concentrerà sugli sviluppi delle linee pedagogiche della Congregazione salesiana presenti soprattutto nei documenti ufficiali come le decisioni dei Capitoli Generali (CG), le lettere dei Rettori Maggiori e dei consiglieri scolastici negli Atti del Capitolo Superiore (ACS), i programmi d’insegnamento per gli studentati e le scuole salesiane.
Il concetto di “realtà educativa” e altri concetti correlati come crescita, maturità e personalità possono sembrare semplici ma nascondono una complessità che deriva da due matrici diverse. Prima di tutto, si riferiscono a settori diversi dello sviluppo umano, ognuno dei quali richiede una diversa elaborazione concettuale. Inoltre, il discorso pedagogico deve chiarire l’oggetto e il settore specifico di cui si occupa e definire la posizione da cui si svolge la riflessione. L’autore, nel testo datato 4 dicembre 1920, esprime una serie di raccomandazioni riguardanti diversi aspetti, tra cui l’inizio dell’anno scolastico, l’importanza delle visite ispettive, la cura dei confratelli giovani, la formazione ecclesiastica, la vigilanza sui confessori e l’esame delle facoltà della Santa Penitenzieria.

Upon returning from Ethiopia, the Rector ;ajor expresses joy at witnessing a vibrant part of the extensive Project-Africa, filled with hope.
