Questa lettera del 24 giugno 1920 celebra l’inaugurazione del monumento a Don Bosco a Torino, descritto come un simbolo dell’amore alle anime e una sintesi dell’opera salesiana. Il monumento raffigura Don Bosco come un padre affettuoso circondato da giovani, rappresentando l’amore verso di loro e la gratitudine dei suoi figli.
La lettera tratta del monumento dedicato a Don Bosco, fondatore della società salesiana, in occasione del decimo anniversario della sua morte nel 1920 a Torino.
Nelle deliberazioni del Secondo Capitolo Generale si fa minzione di lettere edificanti, che si scriverebbero di quando in quando a tutti i confratelli. Loro argomento sarebbero tutte quelle cose, le quali possono servire di sprone a lavorare alla maggior gloria di Dio e giovare a mantener vivo ne’ cuori il fuoco della cristiana pietà. For the beginning of our centennial celebration we are gathered together here as a family in the place where the Salesians established their first presence in the United States of America. When we compare our present- day situation with that at the moment of our arrival we find much for which we must be grateful to God.
The letter extends Easter wishes and gratitude for condolences on the author’s father’s passing. It mentions the upcoming beatification of Fr. Bronislaw Marhiewicz and the initiation of Team Visits halfway through the six years following the last General Chapter. Il Rettor Maggiore accenna il Capitolo Generale X che ebbe principio il 23 Agosto e terminò la sera del 13 Settembre dell’anno 1904. Questa solenne assemblea fu indetta sei mesi prima, e fu convocata osservando scrupolosamente tutte le norme che la Chiesa sapientemente ha tracciato alle Comunità Religiose. Furono presenti tutto il Capitolo Superiore, il Procuratore Generale, tutti gli Ispettori ed un Delegato eletto dai confratelli nei Capitoli Ispettoriali. El modelo educativo-pastoral de Don Bosco, iniciado en Turín en 1841, evolucionó desde simples actividades catequísticas y recreativas hasta la consolidación de una obra con sede permanente en la Casa del Sr. Pinardi en Valdocco en 1846. A lo largo de los años, Don Bosco expandió su labor, adquiriendo la Casa Pinardi en 1850 y desarrollando instalaciones educativas más amplias.
