Don Bosco è Venerabile! Questa è la fausta novella che da tanti anni si sospirava e che finalmente sull’ali del telegrafo giunse la sera del 24 Luglio. Questo è il felice annunzio che ripetuto in tutte le lingue per mezzo dei giornali ha rallegrato il cuore di innumerevoli amici ed ammiratori di D. Bosco.
In questa lettera, si sottolinea l’importanza della guida paterna e della preservazione dello spirito salesiano nell’Istituto, con particolare enfasi sul progresso spirituale, morale e scientifico.
Tornò dolce il vedere che il Congresso trasse a Torino il fior fiore dei Cooperatori e delle pie Cooperatrici! Essi vennero da lontani paesi, portati unicamente dal desiderio di stringere sempre più i vincoli di carità che li uniscono all’umile Società Salesiana, sempre meglio intendersi sul modo di aiutare le Opere che si hanno tra mano e renderle ognor più feconde per la salvezza delle anime. Onorarono il Congresso collo splendore della loro altissima dignità tre Eminentissimi Cardinali di S. Chiesa e oltre a trenta Eccellentissimi Arcivescovi e Vescovi, i quali accesero tutti i cuori d’un santo entusiasmo colla loro autorevole ed eloquentissima parola. Del giovane Beato riminese Alberto Marvelli si sono sempre sottolineati l’impegno nel sociale, la carità verso i poveri, la vita di preghiera, mentre è rimasto un po’ in ombra l’impegno educativo. Eppure, questo ha assorbito una parte non trascurabile del suo tempo e delle sue energie. Gli scritti di Alberto sull’educazione sono, in realtà, di grande interesse, perché non solo ci aiutano ad approfondire la conoscenza della sua personalità e della sua spiritualità, ma servono anche a farci comprendere come un’intera generazione abbia potuto “resistere” moralmente agli atteggiamenti, ai comportamenti, agli stili di vita presentati dalla propaganda del Regime e sia stata in grado al termine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale di impegnarsi

On June 23rd of last year, our Rector Major, Fr. Egidio Vigano, the 7th successor of Don Bosco, passed away and returned to God. His peaceful passing occurred at the Generalate, where he was attended by his brothers Frs. Angelo and Francesco, and surrounded by the prayers and affection of fellow confreres and sisters, as well as the esteem of many friends. The Holy Father personally conveyed words of comfort and his blessing to Fr. Vigano the day before his passing.
The funeral services served as a poignant tribute to Fr. Vigano, highlighting the gratitude of confreres and members of the Salesian Family for his unwavering guidance and leadership. They underscored his esteemed reputation in both civil and ecclesiastical circles, attributed to his theological acumen and collaborative spirit.
