After World Youth Day 2002 (Toronto, Canada), the 3rd Continental Vocation Congress for Vocations in North America (Montreal 2002), a Pastoral Plan was published inviting the whole Church to nurture a Vocation Culture. In a vocation crisis context, a small group of FMAs in Canada and laity reflected on how to do this. The idea of a sustained discernment journey, the need for a loving and faithful accompaniment of young people began to emerge. Questo articolo esplora la possibilità di applicare il Sistema Preventivo, ampiamente adottato nelle scuole, anche nell’ambito militare. Don Bosco, il principale teorico del Sistema Preventivo, affermava che questo metodo è adatto per scuole e istituzioni per minorenni, ma preferiva il Sistema Repressivo per adulti e militari, dove il comando deve essere esercitato con severità e distacco. Questo contrasto solleva domande sulla coerenza delle sue idee, considerando il contesto risorgimentale e pedagogico italiano. Don Bosco, pur avendo una mente pratica e un’approfondita esperienza educativa, non aveva esperienza diretta in ambito militare, il che rendeva difficile per lui proporre riforme in questo campo.

Il metodo educativo di Don Bosco, noto come il “Sistema Preventivo,” si fonda su tre pilastri: ragione, religione e amorevolezza. La ragione è centrale nel suo approccio e può essere considerata sotto tre aspetti: come facoltà intellettuale, come abito o virtù, e come atto, identificabile con la coscienza. Don Bosco intende la ragione come scienza, cioè una conoscenza sistematica e ragionata, e sottolinea l’importanza di una cultura viva e pronta, sebbene il suo metodo non si distingua per una cultura superiore, ma per una cultura popolare e catechistica.

L’opera e la figura di Don Bosco sono esaminate sotto una luce che ne esalta la grandezza e la rilevanza nel contesto sociale contemporaneo. Paragonato a una vetta maestosa che può essere apprezzata appieno solo da lontano, Don Bosco rappresenta un esempio di come il tempo confermi e amplifichi l’importanza delle grandi opere. La sua intuizione e il suo spirito d’intrapresa lo portarono a rivolgersi principalmente ai giovani lavoratori e ai figli dei lavoratori, anticipando i tempi e riconoscendo l’importanza del lavoro nella futura evoluzione sociale.

Don Bosco a reçu de nombreuses lettres tout au long de sa vie. Dans les années 1880, il en recevait parfois plus de cent par jour. Il aurait lui-même écrit probablement plus de vingt mille lettres, dont une centaine en français et un petit nombre en espagnol, anglais et allemand. Dans une lettre datée du 8 juin 1880 adressée à don Monateri, il mentionne avoir reçu une multitude de lettres. L’expérience “Salohy” est née suite à la demande des jeunes animateurs des Oratorio de Madagascar, pour leur permettre de réaliser une expérience missionnaire auprès des enfants et des jeunes, dans un endroit où il n’y pas encore une présence des FMA ou des SDB. L’expérience “Salohy” a une double finalité: – pour les jeunes volontaires missionnaires, vivre une expérience missionnaire où ils sont des protagonistes pour porter la Bonne nouvelle aux autres jeunes; – pour les jeunes et les enfants du lieu de mission, partager la spiritualité et la méthode éducative de Don Bosco aux jeunes des autres paroisses ou diocèses.
