L’iniziativa di tenere a Torino un Congresso degli Oratori festivi si è rivelata un grande successo, in particolare per molti membri del clero. Questo secondo Congresso, organizzato dai Salesiani, ha sottolineato l’importanza dell’educazione popolare per la civiltà e la fede, specialmente in tempi presenti. Il primo Congresso, celebrato a Brescia in onore di San Filippo Neri, fu organizzato con grande sfarzo, lasciando un ricordo indelebile. Don Bosco, grande educatore cristiano dei giovani, volle la religione tra i fondamenti del suo sistema educativo. Nell’ambito della religione il Santo diede una grande importanza alla vita di pietà. La inculcò insistentemente con la parola e con gli scritti. Seppe soprattutto dare il suo convincente esempio.
