La Escuela Normal Superior (ENS), es una institución formadora de maestros, ubicada en el Área Metropolitana de Medellín (Antioquia-Colombia), zona densamente poblada y con fuertes contrastes entre ricos y pobres. Estos últimos, en su gran mayoría, llegaron huyendo de la violencia o buscando mejores condiciones de vida. Esta situación ha propiciado el aumento de niños y jóvenes en situación de riesgo, a los cuales el Estado no siempre les puede garantizar el derecho a la educación con calidad. O “Nova Vida” é um programa municipal que funciona há 28 anos na cidade de Macaé (estado do Rio de Janeiro – Brasil) e trabalha com jovens entre 14 e 18 anos. Os jovens do programa passam um turno do dia trabalhando numa secretaria municipal e no outro turno frequentam a escola. Eles recebem meio salário mínimo (atualmente R$ 469,00, aproximadamente 115,00 euros – valores de dezembro de 2017).  Esta é uma oportunidade para aprender a trabalhar, por conseguinte são incluídos socialmente. Recent studies conducted in India have shown that both perceived social support and spirituality contribute significantly to increasing life satisfaction of Indian college students.  While perceived social support is a major source of subjective well-being for adolescents, offering them physical and emotional comfort and protection from stressful events, spirituality enhances their purpose in life, interconnectedness with others, profound inner life and transcending of ordinary experiences.
