Maria Mukai Yumiko – “Establishing the salesian charism in Japan in the process of founding the caritas sisters of Miyazaki” in “Implantation of the Salesian charism in Asia – Ideals, challenges, answers, results”

The 12th General Chapter of the Caritas Sisters of Miyazaki (SCM) held in September 2004, had for its scope the clarification of the charismatic and spiritual identity of the Institute and the renewal of its life and form of government.

In studying the historical documents of the institute in preparation for the General Chapter, the sisters discovered the eminently Salesian character of their charism. This realization came about particularly when revising the Constitutions and Regulations. In fact, by analyzing the different articles with the help of experts in theology and in Salesianity they identified a number of elements common to both the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) alike.

Il 12° Capitolo Generale delle Suore della Caritas di Miyazaki (SCM), tenutosi nel settembre 2004, ha avuto come scopo il chiarimento dell’identità carismatica e spirituale dell’Istituto e il rinnovamento della sua vita e forma di governo. Studiando i documenti storici dell’istituto in preparazione al Capitolo Generale, le suore hanno scoperto il carattere eminentemente salesiano del loro carisma. Questa presa di coscienza è avvenuta in particolare durante la revisione delle Costituzioni e dei Regolamenti. Infatti, analizzando i diversi articoli con l’ausilio di esperti in teologia e in salesianità, sono stati individuati alcuni elementi comuni sia ai Salesiani di Don Bosco (SDB) che alle Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice (FMA).
