Egidio Viganò – «Charism and prayer» in “Acts of the General Council of the salesian society of St John Bosco”

During the recent months of June and July, the Grand Rector has presided over the plenary sessions of the General Council, where various aspects of the life of the provinces in the present day were examined. Among these topics, one that particularly stands out, linked to our ongoing renewal, is “Salesian spirituality and ecclesial Movements.” This topic presents an opportunity for reflection that can deepen our identity and, in some cases, steer us away from deviations.

Upon reviewing the situation, it was found challenging to accurately gauge the extent of numerical participation of our confreres in specific Movements. Some serve as ecclesiastical assistants, particularly in our parishes, while others attend meetings sporadically for informational purposes. Some participate regularly, aiming to rejuvenate their spiritual fervor, while a few, hopefully rare, seem so deeply attached to these Movements that it may indicate a detachment from the spirituality inherent in our own proper charism.
