Egidio Viganò – “Letter of the Rector Major” in “Acts of the General Council of the salesian society of St John Bosco”

The Rector Major writes from the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops, expressing thoughts for the benefit of the Salesian Family and young people. The Synod has discerned numerous rich facets of life, lines of action, and hopes for the future, which he feels compelled to share for the sake of common sanctification and apostolate.

During the synodal meetings, he was accompanied by the FMA Superior General, Mother Marinella Castagno, and several well-deserving confreres: two Cardinals (Castillo and Obando), three Archbishops (Gottardi, Rivera-Damas, and Santos), and one expert working with the special Secretary, Fr. Luigi Bogliolo, making a total of eight participants. They convened several times to exchange impressions, assessments, and to share the joy of expressing, at a highly responsible level of service, the great ideal of love for the Church cherished by their father, Don Bosco
