This article recounts the mission of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in China initiated by Msgr. Luigi Versiglia in January 1923. The first six sisters arrived in Shiu Chow on May 15, 1923, under the guidance of Msgr. Versiglia.
The Monsignor’s paternal care was instrumental in helping the Sisters assimilate into the new culture and engage in evangelization. He emphasized adherence to their Rule and encouraged optimism, trust in Divine Providence, and fraternal charity. Additionally, Msgr. Versiglia formed a group of young catechists to assist missionaries in various districts. The Sisters, upon reaching Kuneong, actively participated in mission activities, including external relations, the catechumenate, and oratory.
