Luigi Ricceri – “The centenary of Salesian missions” in “Acts of The Superior Counsil of the Salesian Society”

In 1975, we celebrate two significant events: the Holy Year and the centenary of our missions. The Holy Year calls for true conversion and reconciliation with God and each other, which aligns with our Salesian spirit. This year also marks 100 years since the first Salesian missionaries, inspired by Don Bosco, departed for South America, following the definitive approval of our Constitutions. This milestone reflects our Congregation’s growth and commitment to evangelization. As we commemorate this centenary, we must recognize our responsibility to continue this missionary zeal and adapt to contemporary challenges.

Summary:

  • A commemoration not to be scamped
  • 1. A look at the past
  • 2. Characteristics of our missionary activity
  • 3. Three positive ideas: co-operation; a missionary expedition worthy of the Centenary;solidarity with the missions
  • Our ‘stone’ for God’s Kingdom
