Egidio Viganò – “Letter of the Rector Major” in “Acts of the General Council of the salesian society of St John Bosco”

The Rector Major recounts his recent travels undertaken for the purpose of animation. In September, he visited Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil; in October, North Belgium and Holland; and in November, he participated in two important “Team visits” in Delhi with the Indian provinces and in Thailand with those of the Far East. Additionally, he made a brief visit to Japan to convey greetings and represent the entire Congregation at the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the arrival of the first Salesians in that country. Throughout his travels, he observed a strong desire to grow in fidelity to Don Bosco, evident in the enthusiastic and profound preparations for the celebrations of 1988. There was a palpable sense of commitment, serious planning, and renewed dedication to the mission for youth in every place he visited.
