Egidio Viganò – “Promulgation of the constitutions and general regulations of the Society of st Francis de Sales” in “Acts of the General Council of the salesian society of St. John Bosco”

The “Rule of life,” a cherished legacy embodying the identity of the Salesians of Don Bosco, has been recently reaffirmed in the Constitutions, officially approved by the Apostolic See, and the general Regulations, endorsed by the general chapter. This revision process was extensive and not devoid of challenges, requiring concerted efforts from every province. The primary aim was to faithfully capture Don Bosco’s original vision, inspiration, and intuition. This gift to the Church, endorsed by Don Bosco and embraced by the Church itself, is presented anew with its unblemished integrity, albeit in updated language. Following the transformative influence of the Second Vatican Council, the Congregation, in unity, engaged in a thorough reevaluation, allowing input from individual members and communities.
